Read our Q&A to learn more about Justin’s background in logistics, the most important parts of his role, and what it’s like to work in sales at STORD.

What did you do before you came to STORD?

Before I joined STORD, I built up over 12 years of experience in transportation and logistics. I’ve been blessed with many incredible opportunities to support progressive and innovative companies.

Most recently, I was Vice President of Sales for GlobalTranz, a $1 billion freight brokerage, which meant migrating to Scottsdale, Arizona to oversee our Direct Sales Organization (as well as offices in Prescott Valley, Arizona and Chicago).

Before that, I was a Vice President & General Manager at Logistics Planning Services, which was an innovative transportation management company that GlobalTranz bought in 2017. I opened our Chicago branch before this acquisition.

What I’m most proud of are the great opportunities I’ve had to develop my career path in the logistics and supply chain industry. Most people don’t know this, but I started as a Driver Services Rep at Coyote, essentially tracking drivers on enterprise shipments. I always wanted to make a greater impact on the business, and after a great deal of effort and energy, I was fortunate to develop into a leader in the sales division.

This experience truly shaped my perspective as I learned a great amount of M&A intel by being in sales management during the Coyote acquisition of Access America Transport in 2014 and our integration with UPS in 2016. I received the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of personalities and cultures, and the complexities of merging the integral aspects of these great organizations to scale the greater business following.

What drew you to STORD?

Ted Alling — co-founder of Access America and Dynamo Venture Capital — was an early investor in STORD and is a mutual connection between Sean and I.

Ted spoke highly of the company and the growth trajectory he had seen, so he introduced me to Sean and Jacob. As soon as I heard their idea, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of.

One of the things that I loved about working at Coyote was the high-intensity startup feel and fast growth we experienced early on. At STORD, I’m able to utilize those experiences to build, create, and scale our organization, not only to be an innovator in the supply chain technology space, but also to be a great company to work for.

What do you do at STORD?

At a high level, my job is to develop a best-in-class sales organization that addresses the complex and evolving needs of supply chains.

More specifically, that means being the commercial leader of the sales organization, identifying the best talent, and providing the proper tools and support to enable everyone on my team for success.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the ability to build and create alongside everyone else at STORD.

I’ve always been obsessed with growth and leaving a legacy, and I get to use that passion every day to drive our business.

Plus, I work with an amazing team of some of the brightest minds in the industry.

After my time in the corporate world, I greatly enjoy the creativity that I have here in an earlier-stage organization. It’s a new challenge and opportunity to build something meaningful every day!

I’m deeply excited about the growth we’ve seen so far, and I have no doubt that this will be my best venture yet. This is my dream job!

What would you say to someone considering a sales career at STORD?

I’d say this is an incredible opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing organization.

We’re looking for people who are ready to jump in and help us innovate.

We need passion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to building something special in the supply chain technology space. As we grow, we’re really excited to keep adding to our team.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing, and writing music.

As a former artist, I still very much enjoy performing and creating whenever I can.

Mostly, I try to free my mind and enjoy the short time we have here. I want to make my time count.
